OVERVIEW
Sculptra is a injectable filler that is used to decrease the presence of wrinkles, fine lines, and creases by helping the skin increase its natural production of collagen. Much like other fillers, Sculptra is injected into designated areas of the face to increase volume and give patients a rejuvenated and youthful appearance. Sculptra treatment is an outpatient procedure that allows patients to go back to their regular routines without any downtime. Results are long lasting and can be seen immediately after the procedure. Dr. Marguerite Bernett, an Irvine cosmetic surgeon, is eager to discuss with you the benefits of this procedure and help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Sculptra is performed inside our plastic surgery center during an in-office appointment. The injection sites will be marked, and the skin will be numbed with a local anesthetic. From there, Sculptra will be injected through a small syringe. The procedure is mostly painless, but any discomfort will be controlled with cold compressions and ice packs. The number of syringes used to attain the desired results will be discussed prior to treatment. The dosage will depend on the amount of wrinkles and the depth of them.
AFTER TREATMENT
There will be some mild swelling and redness at the injection sites immediately following a Sculptra treatment. These side effects will subside quickly and normal activities can be resumed; however, exercise should be avoided for 24 hours. Sculptra is different from other injectable fillers because the results do not happen immediately. They take place over time because of the ongoing collagen production process. The final results can usually be seen a few weeks after the treatment and will typically last up to 2 years. Sculptra is the only long-lasting filler to improve and enhance the shape and look of the face.
EXPECTED COST
The average cost for each Sculptra treatment typically ranges between $700 and $1,000 per syringe of medication. Multiple syringes may be needed. For maximum effects, 2-3 treatments are recommended over a spaced out period of time.
